Rigetti Cepheus-1-108Q QPU Available on Open Quantum

We are excited to announce that Rigetti's Cepheus-1-108Q quantum processor is now live on the Open Quantum platform. This 108-qubit superconducting system is the latest addition to our rapidly expanding quantum hardware ecosystem, and it's available to run on today.

About Cepheus-1-108Q

Cepheus-1-108Q is Rigetti's newest superconducting quantum processor, built for advanced workloads and large-scale experimentation.

Key hardware features include:

  • 108 qubits across a square-lattice topology
  • Modular multi-chip architecture designed for scalability
  • Tunable couplers for high-performance gate operations

Cepheus is the largest modular quantum computing system in the industry, comprising twelve interconnected 9-qubit chiplets. At 108 qubits, it opens the door to circuit sizes that are difficult or impossible to classically simulate. Tunable couplers give Cepheus precise control over qubit interactions, reducing unwanted crosstalk and enabling higher-fidelity two-qubit gates compared to fixed-coupler architectures. The modular design makes it a forward-looking platform, built to scale as quantum hardware continues to mature.

Accessing Cepheus on Open Quantum

Cepheus is accessible now through Open Quantum's unified interface. Select the Cepheus-1-108 backend from Rigetti on the Open Quantum portal, or target Cepheus by changing one line of code using the Python SDK:

config = JobSubmissionConfig(
    backend_class_id="rigetti:cepheus-1-108q",
    ...
)
